VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE NCR Corporation is said to deploy over 100 Voice Guided ATMs - which not only allows access to visually challenged people but also people with physical disabilities through ramps for wheel chair access, for Union Bank of India (UBI) - India’s pioneer public sector bank. The city’s first ‘Talking ATM’ was inaugurated today at The Passport Seva Kendra in Thane by Sri D Sarkar, CMD, UBI. Following the successful pilot and first ‘Talking ATM’ deployment in Ahmedabad, NCR has been contracted to deploy a further such 100 ATMs for UBI, of which, over 50 ATMs will be deployed at Passport Seva Kendras and at other UBI locations around the country. The deployment is amongst the largest globally for any Public Sector bank. The solution, enabled by the power of the network, facilitates the UBI's vision of providing the benefits of banking to rural and agricultural economies, and to India's burgeoning small and medium-sized enterprise sector. This service specifically targets users who do not have a bank account, by providing access to financial services through their mobile phones and driving financial inclusion. The service will enable customers to transfer money to other individuals, withdraw cash from Business Correspondents cash-out outlets (registered Nokia stores) and ATMs, pay utility bills as well as recharge prepaid SIM cards by using their mobile devices, eliminating the need for intermediaries.
