AMD releases ATI Catalyst 10.8 Drivers


AMD has released the ATI Catalyst 10.8 for Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 series users. The drivers offer a unique variety of new features, including Video Quality default options, AA support for StarCraft II and a performance boost for Quad-CrossFireX users. The drivers also offer full support for OpenGL ES 2.0 - enabling fully 3D accelerated webpage graphics on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP and enables better GPU accelerated web browsing.

The drivers will enable users to benefit from additional functionalities such as improved video playback quality, support for hardware-accelerated 3D content in web browsers and anti-aliasing support in StarCraft II and OpenGL ES 2.0 support. The drivers will greatly improve the performance on ATI Radeon and ATI CrossFireX configurations for a number of games such as Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Stormrise while also adding Crossfire application profiles for Mafia 2, Singularity and Aliens vs Predator.

It enables 3D accelerated graphics within a web browser that supports OpenGL ES 2.0. The driver enhances video options for ATI Catalyst to deliver the best quality video viewing experience and performance enhancement for Eyefinity Quad ATI CrossFireX configurations. It supports new Linux operating systems.
