To add flavor to the start of their I/O conference, Google announced the launch of its much-awaited 7-inch tablet. The Nexus 7 sports a 7-inch, IPS (in-plane switching) screen, with a resolution of 1,280x800 pixels. The tablet measures 10.45mm thick and weighs 0.7 pound. Featuring a 1.3GHz Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 it also includes a 12-core GPU.
The Nexus 7 will be the first device to run the latest version of the Android 4.1 OS, also known as Jelly Bean. Though Android 4.1 but the device is just as customizable as previous incarnations of the OS, the way it's presented on this tablet feels much more controlled and focused. 
The home screen is presented in portrait mode only and doesn’t rotate. There's also a 1.2-megapixel front camera, but lacks in 3G connection with only Wi-Fi to be relied for connectivity on this. It comes in two variants, 8GB or 16GB and is expected to be available from mid-July.
