Indian students to develop Apps for Windows 
In less than a week from now, thousands of charged-up students in Karnataka will get together at the SJB Institute of Technology, Kengeri, Bengaluru, to develop apps for the Windows platform. On February 26, more than 10,000 students from across the length and breadth of the country will gear up to code applications for a whole day, at more than 50 hub centres like the SJB Institute of Technology.
The colleges are currently holding training sessions for students who wish to brush up their coding skills as they register. On the day of the AppFest, the young developers will code under the supervision of Microsoft mentors, trainers and Microsoft Student Partners (MSPs), and submit the app online - an opportunity to make it available on the Windows Store after due diligence.
Microsoft will provide students at each of the hubs with free software such as Visual Studio Express for Windows 8, and with free Windows Store registration codes through Microsoft DreamSpark. The focus will be on broad-based consumer applications, incorporating education, games, apps for social good, etc.....See More

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery. The favourable impact of M2M on job creation had already set in as seen by the arrival of the first set of start-ups in the areas such as agriculture, smart cities, healthcare and water management.” She stressed that NTP 2018 would be transformative in harnessing the full benefits of M2M communications.
