Texas Instrument expands its SOCs portfolio 
Texas Instruments has announced the demonstration of 60 new fully integrated metering SoCs toat DistribuTECH 2013. The MSP430F677x SoCs can achieve electricity measurement accuracy that meets or exceeds global regulatory requirements for smart polyphase e-meters including IEC 62053-22 and ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2 standards. MSP430F677x SoCs integrated memory enables more sophisticated metering features whereas advanced anti-tampering protection helps electric utilities prevent power theft and meter manipulation.
MSP430F677x SoCs   integrated display drivers support 8-Mux 320-segment LCD controller enabling more detailed displays and extended language support.In addition, a 128-bit hardware-accelerated Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) module speeds encryption time compared to a traditional software implementation, improving meter security, performance and reducing energy consumption.
The new MSP430F677x SoCs, along with accompanying software support, makes development quicker and affordable. Its increased memory density allows developers to connect to wired and wireless communications standards including ZigBee, wM-Bus, PRIME, G3-PLC and RF mesh networks......See More

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery. The favourable impact of M2M on job creation had already set in as seen by the arrival of the first set of start-ups in the areas such as agriculture, smart cities, healthcare and water management.” She stressed that NTP 2018 would be transformative in harnessing the full benefits of M2M communications.
