Global IT spend to decrease for 2013: Gartner 
As per the latest update, research firm Gartner lowered its projections for global IT spending for 2013 to $3.7 trillion, while, according to the previous estimate, Garnet forecasted a growth rate of 4.1 per cent in overall IT spending.  It is important to note here that the IT spending was projected at $3.6 trillion in 2012.

Exchange rate movements, and a reduction in our 2013 forecast for devices, account for the bulk of the downward revision of the 2013 growth. However, Western Europe's constant currency growth has been inched up slightly as strategic IT initiatives in the region will continue despite a poor economic outlook, said Richard Gordon, Managing Vice-President, Garner Research Inc.

Spending on other segments like data centre systems, enterprise software, IT services and telecom services is forecasted to touch $149 billion, $324 billion, $968 billion and $1.69 trillion, respectively. As far as the outlook for tablet revenue for 2013 is concerned, it is projected for growth of 2.8 per cent.
