Tata Elxsi and Algotochip announce Strategic Partnership 
Tata Elxsi and Algotochip have announced their partnership to provide rapid SoC solutions and services targeted at OEMs and custom chip makers. The companies' first collaboration is to develop digital chips and IP blocks that can support next-generation video services embedded with the latest 4K HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) technology. This leverages Tata Elxsi’s HEVC Ultra HD (4K) software that has been licensed to multiple customers. The IP blocks and services are targeted for an array of proliferating smart CE devices such as smartphones, tablets, set-top boxes, gaming consoles and media players, amongst others.
“Semiconductor companies will benefit from early access to emerging technologies such as HEVC as IP blocks using Algotochip BlueboxTM tools that enable rapid design of optimal solutions, including hardware and software,” said Satish Padmanabhan, CTO, Algotochip.
Nitin Pai, Vice- President - Marketing, Tata Elxsi, said, “We see an emerging trend for custom SoCs tailored for specific applications. Tata Elxsi offers market leading algorithmic solutions including multimedia solutions (encoding/decoding/video analytics), wireless (LTE, WiMAX) and communication (transcoding, protocol stacks for unified communication). This partnership allows customers to incorporate advanced technology into their SoCs and get to market faster by reducing development time and risks.”

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
