Narendra Modi sworn in as the 15th Prime Minister of India 
63-year-old Narendra Modi became India's 15th Prime Minister. The glittering oath-taking ceremony attended by more than 4,000 guests and held at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan was graced by leaders from the SAARC nations, top politicians and bureaucrats of the country.Forty-five other members of the Council of Ministers were also sworn in. Among the senior leaders sworn in the cabinet ranks included former BJP President Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.

Top luminaries at the function included names like outgoing PM Dr Manmohan Singh, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Nepal PM Sushil Koirala, former Presidents of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil and formerPM H. D. Deve Gowda.

India Inc. bigwigs and industry leaders including Ambani brothers, Shashi Ruia, Gautam Adani, Gautam Hinduja, Bollywood celebrities Salman Khan, Dharmendra and cricketer Sunil Gavaskar were some of the other guests at the swearing-in ceremony. 

Moments after he was sworn in as the new PM, the PMO website which was relaunched carried a message from Modi which read, "Together, we will script a glorious future for India. Let us together dream of a strong, developed and inclusive India that actively engages with the global community to strengthen the cause of world peace and development."

Sticking to his policy of "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance", Modi’s cabinet has been restricted to a few cabinet ministers, bringing down the number from 29 to 24 and the total size of ministers from 72 to 45.
INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FROM NEW GOVERNEMNT

Amar Babu, President, MAIT said, "Although Narendra Modiji has actively spoken on manufacturing, we suggest his govt. put in place a manufacturing ecosystem immediately by ushering in policy reforms, regulatory frameworks and removing inverted duty structure to facilitate investments in the country."
Debjani Ghosh, Vice President, MAIT remarked, "Since Modi has actively advocated technology penetration and digital literacy, we wish the government build an intelligent and confident India by fostering technology adoption, sprucing up infrastructure, ensuring last mile connectivity, reducing VAT and providing access to easy bank loans in the context of ICT".
Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT commented, "As a first measure, BJP Government should provide a climate that can enable investment promotion and build on policy measures that would accelerate the growth of domestic manufacturing. Positive sentiments will also build if hurdles are removed in implementation of many existing policies".

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
