  Dell introduces NFV Platform to meet growing customer demands 
Dell has introduced its NFV solution offerings and companion starter kits, comprising Dell systems and software combined with software from open ecosystem partners and open-source distributions to help jumpstart carrier trials and adoption.

Dell’s NFV solutions can help telecommunications service providers improve cost structures of existing service delivery and simply and quickly enable new service innovation and creation. This is achieved by virtualizing the telecommunications and mobile service infrastructure using industry-standard compute and open networking platforms, combined with commercially available software packages at the infrastructure, management, orchestration and service layers.

Manish Gupta, Director, Enterprise Solutions Group, Dell India, said, “Due to the exponential growth of data and expectation from consumers for high-speed telecommunication services, telecom service players cannot meet the demands of consumers in the conventional way. We have designed the Network Functions Virtualization Solutions offerings to provide telecom customers with a more customized approach to their data needs, thereby reducing costs and improving the overall experience of service delivery. This customized solution is truly end-to-end offering customers with the latest server, storage, networking and storage technologies from Dell combined with software from Dell’s ecosystem partners.”

The Dell NFV platform uses the latest server, storage, networking and software technologies from Dell combined with software from open ecosystem partners to form fully-converged, virtualized infrastructure that can execute virtual network functions (VNFs). The platform also includes foundational software and open interfaces for Management and Orchestration (MANO) for simple operation and ease of integration. From a deployment perspective, the Dell NFV platform can be dimensioned and equipped for application virtually anywhere, at any scale, in a carrier environment.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery. The favourable impact of M2M on job creation had already set in as seen by the arrival of the first set of start-ups in the areas such as agriculture, smart cities, healthcare and water management.” She stressed that NTP 2018 would be transformative in harnessing the full benefits of M2M communications.
