Huawei bags India CSR Community Initiative award
Huawei has been conferred with “Best Innovative CSR Project in Education” for its programme E- hope, implemented in multiple locations across India, by the India CSR Community Initiative Awards.
The case study was based on the project – E-hope – to equip, educate and empower young minds. This programme aims to digitally equip rural schools in India and aid in bridging the digital divide by providing access to the information technology and computer systems. By providing computers and promoting equal access to connectivity, the program contributes significantly to narrowing the gap between the digital ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’. E-Hope intends to reach about 100,000 children annually. The program was launched across India in phases with an objective to build a knowledge network of 1,000 schools within the next two to three years.
Cai Liqun, CEO, Huawei India said, “Huawei is committed to creating a win-win industry ecosystem that promotes the sustainable development of the economy, society and environment. Huawei makes a conscious effort to engage and associate with causes which benefit and create positive impact on society at large and aims to address the technological gap, and strives to impart quality education by helping schools to empower students. Among the diverse CSR initiatives of Huawei India, it has viewed education as an effective tool for bringing social change through community development. We are extremely happy on receiving this prestigious award and we will continue to make positive contributions to the society” See more
