Sagoon initiates “Help Nepal” online tool for earthquake relief

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that has hit Nepal twice, which resulted in the death of 3,300 Nepalese citizens, Sagoon has set up an online tool – Help Nepal – to aid the ongoing relief efforts being carried out in the worst affected areas.

Help Nepal is a standalone online application offering built to deliver vital information to everyone affected by the earthquake one way or another. Users can publish information detailing their current situation, safety and any other important issues.

The purpose of this tool is to provide whereabouts of users and their family and friends, informing each other of their safety. The tool is also made for the sprawling Nepali community across the globe, and the stranded tourists, unable to reach out to their family and friends.

Govinda Giri, Founder, has initiated a fund raiser in America. The money generated from the fund raising will be helpful in providing first aid medical assistance, food packages and temporary shelters.

As of now, approximately $50,000 (INR31,00,000) have been raised, in coordination with the America-Nepal Helping Society (non-profit organization). Sagoon is actively working with other organizations to send more money back home.

This amount is likely to go over $1 million (INR6,20,00,000) as the Nepali community in America, Australia, Canada and UK is working around-the-clock to collect as much funds in a bid to assist relief and rescue operations. Sagoon has its own volunteers working on the ground... See more
