Microsoft acquires GitHub for $7.5 billion

San Francisco-based GitHub tool for coders, into hosting and development service, which hosts 27 million software developers working on 80 million repositories of code, on and off for a few years. Recently they began talks about a partnership but progressed to discussing an acquisition, according to another person familiar with the situation.


GitHub is a code housing platform that allows developers to store their projects and network with peers and GitHub covers why the platform matters, how developers use it, and more and work together to create software. With GitHub one can collaborate on projects and invite other programmers to work on your project from anywhere.
