Service Providers Help Government Attain 100% Rural Teledensity

One of the most important agenda highlighted under the recently proposed Telecom policy was addressing the rural connectivity challenge. The Government in the NTP has expressed its desire to introduce new and Innovative solutions and technologies to address this issue.

One of the key objectives of the upcoming Telecom Policy 2018 is to increase the rural teledensity from the current 56.9% (at the end of October 2017 as per TRAI data) to 100%. The traditional high-capex approach is unlikely to bear fruit in the rural segment because of the return on investment is spread over a long period.
