The MD and CEO of Infosys, Dr Vishal Sikka has stepped down from his position with immediate effect. At its Board meeting held on August 18, 2017, the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Infosys Limited (“Infosys” or the “Company”) accepted the notice of his resignation.  In his notice of resignation to the Board, Dr Sikka reiterated his belief in the great potential of Infosys, but cited among his reasons for leaving a continuous stream of distractions and disruptions over the recent months and quarters, increasingly personal and negative as of late, as preventing management's ability to accelerate the Company's transformation.... IT ministry writes to 21 Smartphone makers to disclose data security measures

After the recent escalation in number of security issues and to ensure the security of Smartphones, the IT ministry has asked 21 Smartphone manufacturers to share the procedures and processes they follow to fortify the security of data and Smartphones vended in India. According to the reports, the ministry has given time till 28th August to the 21 Smartphone vendors out of which majority are Chinese manufacturers, namely Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Gionee besides the renowned brands like Apple and Samsung. The ministry has also notified the companies with penalties such as unlimited compensation depending on the damage caused under the IT Act 43 (A) in case fixed processes are not being followed.  The orders have come out after many international and national reports which pointed out the data leaks from Smartphones.... BT joins hands with Dell EMC

BT and Dell EMC have entered into a research collaboration dedicated to exploring a new way of managing network traffic.  The proof-of-concept trial, which is taking place at the BT Labs in Adastral Park, Suffolk, will explore how disaggregated switching can create flexible networks which are more responsive to customer needs by using standard open network switches commonly found in data centers, coupled with specialist switching software.  Neil J. Brain resigns from American manufacturing Council

Brian Krzanich, CEO-Intel has resigned from the American Manufacturing Council, the group set up by President Donald Trump to advise his government on issues related to manufacturing in the country, over current political climate in the US and alleged politics-driven hate crimes.  His resignation came days after Trump’s response to the violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia on 12 August.  Krzanich’s statement on his resignation from the American Manufacturing Council  “Earlier today, I tendered my resignation from the American Manufacturing Council. Axis Bank acquires Freecharge

Axis Bank has entered into an agreement with Jasper Infotech Pvt Ltd to acquire 100 per cent stake for $60 million (Rs 385 crore) in its subsidiaries, namely, FreeCharge Payment Technologies Pvt Ltd and Accelyst Solutions Pvt Ltd, which together constitute the digital payments business under the 'FreeCharge' brand. The transaction is expected to close by the end of September 2017 subject to regulatory approvals. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director and chief executive of Axis Bank, added that the deal is key from a strategic perspective for the bank. While the bank is expecting regulatory clearance of the deal in two months, it might be looking to merge its wallet business with the latter. While adding to the conversation, Axis Bank’s chief financial officer Jairam Sridharan told the media that the acquisition might double their customer base of the bank leapfrogging its digital journey by years. In a recent announcement, Ziox Mobiles has announced Rs.300-crore investment for FY 2017-18 along with another announcement of Sushant Singh Rajput as its new Brand endorser.  According to the company, the Brand aims to establish a stronger foothold in the Indian market, with the total investment of over Rs.200 crore which shall span for a year.
