On Thursday,The Nepal government has banned the use of Indian currency notes of Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 denominations, according to a media report. The decision comes as the Nepal government is making preparations to celebrate 2020 as the ‘Visit Nepal Year’. Estimates indicate that at least 2 million people will visit Nepal in 2020, the mass of them from India.  The Kathmandu Post quoted Minister for Information and Communications Gokul Prasad Baskota noted for the people to refrain from keeping or carrying Indian bank notes higher than Rs 100 denomination as it has not legalized them. When the Indian government introduced the new denominations in the months following demonetisation in 2016, the Nepal government did not make any announcement on the status of the new currency notes. A Digital India Initiative - BharatNet scheme links 1.2 lakh panchayats through optical fibre : As the backbone of Digital India Initiatives to provide Internet, the e-panchayat facility at all panchayats, the first phase of BharatNet scheme has connected 1.2 lakh of the targeted 2.5 lakh gram panchayats (GPs), or village blocks, through optical fibre, with 1.16 lakh of them ready with broadband services as well, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha informed Parliament on December 12. Delhi High court ordered all-India ban on the online sale of medicines : The Delhi High Court has ordered for all-India ban on the online sale of medicines. The order was issued on Wednesday Dated - December 12, 2018  by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V Kameswar Rao. The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by Dr Zaheer Ahmed. The judgement comes a  day after the Madras High Court reserved its verdict after the final hearing in a similar case.
