Wacom's Indian Subsidiary to begin operations

Wacom's Indian Subsidiary to begin operationsWacom has announced the opening of Wacom India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Wacom. Based in New Delhi, this new subsidiary will officially begin operations on November 1 this year. While Wacom has already entered the Indian market 10 years back and marketed its pen tablets and interactive pen displays, the incredible growth within certain technology sectors where Wacom thrives warranted the creation of a local marketing and sales arm.

"We are impressed with the growth and creativity coming out of India. From the film and design community to the general PC consumer, Wacom looks forward to having a regional presence to make it easier for people to obtain our cutting-edge user interface products, said Masahiko Yamada, President & CEO, Wacom Company Ltd. "Consumers and professional end-users will benefit from the opportunity to experience natural and intuitive computer input with our pen and touch devices, while building distribution and reseller partnerships will help expand our network.

While Wacom's professional product line - Intuos4 pen tablets and Cintiq interactive pen displays - is very well received in India by animators, designers and graphic artists, Wacom intends to promote its consumer tablet family, Bamboo, to the expanding population of PC users. It is introducing Bamboo One, an entry-level pen tablet for those looking for the navigational and creative control benefits unique to a Wacom device. The product will be launched in January 2011. Bamboo One features Wacom's battery-free, cordless pen and a quality designed tablet.

In addition to its focus on India's consumers, Wacom anticipates growth of its interactive pen displays in vertical market industries such as medical, education, finance and presentation systems. Wacom's DTU family of pen displays combine an intuitive workflow with unparalleled productivity, making them an ideal choice for professional use.
