VIA and Simmtronics successfully conclude Channel Roadshows

VIA Technologies and Simmtronics Semiconductors have announced successful conclusion of their first round of channel roadshows held in major cities in the North, East, and West of India to promote the launch of their comprehensive range of green computing products based on power-efficient VIA pc-1 platforms.

Representatives of the leading System Integrators, Distributors and Resellers attended the events. Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Ranchi, Bhubhneswer, Guwahati, Raipur, Kolkatta, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune showed an overwhelming interest in working with VIA and Simmtronics to drive the emergence of an exciting new segment in the market for affordable, energy-saving PCs.

Of particular interest was the ground-breaking new SIMM PC, a low-power and full-featured system that is priced below Rs.10,000 and has been specially designed to meet the particular needs of consumers, businesses, and government and education institutions in the county's smaller cities and rural markets.

Other highlights included the unveiling of the forthcoming VIA VX900E green motherboard aimed at meeting the growing demand for solutions that support DDR3 SDRAM, as well as demonstrations of a wide selection of energy-efficient green motherboards featuring a choice of VIA C7 and VIA Nano processors, such as the entry-level PC2000E+ green motherboard and the mainstream PC3000E+ and PC3500N green platforms.

"We are delighted by the tremendous response we have received to the launch of our full range of VIA-enabled Green PC systems and mainboards," commented Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd. "By cooperating closely together with VIA and our channel partners, I strongly believe that we can be at the forefront of proliferating PC and Internet usage among the hundreds of millions of people who live in India's towns and villages."

"One of the most encouraging results of the roadshows is that all the regional distributors appointed by Simmtronics placed orders for VIA pc-1 mainboards at the events," added Amod Phadke, Director - Sales for India, SAARC, Middle East, and Africa. "Such strong channel support shows how quickly the momentum is growing for us in India."

The channel roadshows are being held as part of an exclusive agreement recently signed between VIA and Simmtronics, under which Simmtronics is assembling VIA pc-1 mainboards in its advanced manufacturing facility in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. In addition to India, Simmtronics will also distribute the products through its channel partners in a total of 15 other countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Dubai, UAE, Turkey, Iraq, Algeria and Ghana.
