Supertron to distribute Acer Android, Windows 7 tablets

Acer has joined the bandwagon of Tablet PC by introducing new tablets in the market, Acer ICONIA TAB A500 and Acer ICONIA TAB W500. The A500 runs on the Android platform, while W500 runs on the Windows 7 thus catering to the needs of both segments of buyers. The national distribution giant Supertron Electronics Ltd has bagged the distribution rights for the Acer Tablet PCs.

W.S. Mukund (MD) Acer India said, "Innovation is part of our DNA. With the launch of the ICONIA range of tablets in India, believes this technology will change the dynamics of consuming digital content. Indian market is not too far behind to adopting this new technologies, with the growing demand for the tablets in India, Acer expect tablets to significantly contribute to the overall revenue in the calendar year 2011."

Along with ICONIA A500 tablet and ICONIA Smart A300 smartphone, Acer also launched the Android-powered ICONIA A100 tablet. Acer ICONIA A100 is the first 7'' tablet device powered by the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS. This device is focused on providing a more mobile experience and includes video chat and video recording options.

Initially, Acer is focusing on nine cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chandigarh for the rigorous sale of tablets. Acer Tablet PCs are available through a nationwide chain of reseller partners, who has the knowledge of current technology.
