Samsung inks MoU with IIM Ahmedabad for a Scholarship

Samsung India Electronics has signed an MoU with India's most reputed management institute IIM, Ahmedabad (IIMA) to roll out a scholarship programme for its management students. Under the Samsung Scholarship Programme, five meritorious students from the first year batch of the management course will be selected for the Samsung Scholarship which will be used to fund the second year of their course at the Institute. Additionally, the selected students will get an opportunity to engage and interact with the Samsung senior management to facilitate better understanding and greater knowledge sharing of the industry.

The MoU was signed by J. S. Shin, CEO & President, Samsung South West Asia, and Samir Barua, Director, IIM, Ahmedabad, at the IIMA campus in the presence of prominent dignitaries and other members from the institute.

To participate in the Samsung Scholarship Programme, students from the IIMA are required to submit their candidature to the institute. An expert jury comprising of IIMA faculty and Samsung management will choose the candidates who will be awarded the Samsung Scholarships. The five meritorious students selected from the shortlisted candidates will be mapped and chosen on three parameters -their first year's score, leadership skills and conceptual and interpersonal skills.

Elaborating on the MoU, J. S. Shin said, "Human capital is the backbone for the growth and development of any economy or industry across the world. Our Scholarship Programme here at the IIMA, seeks to grow beyond providing financial support to the students, to encompass a healthy industry-academia partnership and engagement. As part of this programme, we would like to give these students a healthy exposure to our company and our industry, so that we can contribute to the holistic development of these students."
