Keonics to focus on capacity building for cyber security

The Karnataka Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, and the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (Keonics) has inaugurated the 'Keonics Cyber Lab' facility in Mangalore.

M. N. Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary, Karnataka Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, said, "Keonics Cyber Lab is a capacity building unit for cyber security, cyber law and cyber forensics. Cyber Lab provides training on these subjects and the law enforcement agencies, judiciary department, and revenue department in the State, have shown interest in availing the benefits of this lab. Even the general public and academic institutions can make use of this facility in Mangalore. The Karnataka Government has made a request to the Central Government to start a regional cyber appellate tribunal in Bangalore. The Central Government has given in-principle approval for this proposal most cases of cyber crime in the corporate sector are related to the theft of intellectual property rights. The Keonics Cyber Lab's aim is to strengthen the cyber security system of the country. This lab will be in the forefront of the State's preparedness in tackling cyber crime proactively through training, investigative support and research and development support to various law enforcing agencies."
