Oracle to target large enterprises in India

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE

Oracle will harness Exadata, its flagship database product for data warehousing and online transaction processing (OLTP) as the cornerstone of its 'Go to Market' strategy in India in FY 2011-12. Oracle plans to increase customer adoption for Exadata amongst large Indian enterprises in sectors like government, telecom, BFSI and manufacturing, by leveraging its dominant position in the RDBMS market.

Oracle, with more than 60 per cent market share in India, will leverage the installed base of customers for Oracle Database (more than 7000 Indian organisations as of now) to drive sales for Exadata. The company will appoint system integrators (SI) and distributors under its Oracle Partner Network (OPN) and enable them through a variety of initiatives designed to energise the marketing and implementation efforts for Exadata in the Indian enterprise market.

These SIs, including Infosys, Wipro, HCL and Accel Frontline, have already acquired the specialisation required to implement such large systems, Oracle claimed.
