3D Security with Software Blades from Check Point

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. has announced the availability of Check Point R75.20, the latest software release for its leading Software Blade Architecture. R75.20 enables businesses to inspect SSL-encrypted traffic across all software blades, providing in-depth security analysis and data loss prevention services for applications such as Gmail, eBay and Facebook. It integrates with Microsoft Exchange, allowing businesses to inspect data sent within the organization to prevent data breaches that may occur between individuals or departments.

Check Point has also introduced two new high-end and data center system offerings, including Check Point 61000 - a new carrier-grade security solution and the industry's fastest security gateway - and a new data center appliance, Check Point 21400. In addition, the company also introduced SecurityPower, a new metric for security performance that allows customers to estimate their security needs and compare it to the SecurityPower Units (SPU) rating of each security solution.

The Check Point 61000 boasts a SecurityPower of up to 14,600 SPUs today, providing the power equivalent to approximately 150 of today’s typical enterprise appliances and more than 12 times the performance of high-end appliances available on the market. “When it comes to protecting the most demanding network environments, security and performance are two critical factors that cannot be compromised. The 61000 is designed to support the unique service requirements of data centers and service providers. It combines advanced security technologies to control network access and protect against sophisticated attacks, web-based threats or infected mobile devices - while providing lightning-fast security performance," Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, Regional Director - India & SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies.

The new 21400 Appliance combines high-speed networking technologies with lightning fast firewall throughput of up to 100 Gbps and IPS throughput of up to 21 Gbps (default profile). It is designed to optimize a full range of software blade protections, providing large enterprises and data centers with industry-leading security and performance.

For IT administrators, measuring raw throughput (Gbps) of a security device rarely indicates its behaviour in a real-world environment using different security technologies to protect the network. To address that problem, Check Point is introducing SecurityPower - a new metric for security performance that can be used to estimate the performance needed in various customer scenarios.

With these new solutions company aims to offer a smart and insightful concept that will help businesses better plan for future capacity and spend on security.
