CallPlus selects Blue Coat to reduce bandwidth

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE

Blue Coat Systems announced that CallPlus has selected its CacheFlow 5000 appliance to manage bandwidth from Internet content from outside the country. CallPlus estimates that 90-95 per cent of its traffic is for international content, and the demand is growing at a rate of about 50 per cent per year, by volume. Initial trials of the Blue Coat Web caching appliances conducted by CallPlus showed a reduction in its bandwidth consumption by over 40 per cent. At the same time, the speed of content delivery and quality of video experience increased due to the use of caching, further claims the company.

Adrian Dick, Chief Technology Officer, CallPlus said, "Once we deployed the caching technology, we were serving web traffic considerably faster than our main competitors Blue Coat provided a solution that both reduced costs and improved customer experience; it was the only solution to meet our payback hurdle."

"The experience from CallPlus demonstrates the ability of CacheFlow 5000 appliances to dramatically reduce bandwidth costs while improving user experience. Our breakthrough caching technology addresses the mounting challenges service providers face in meeting fiercely growing demand for web video and content," Steve Daheb, Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President, Blue Coat Systems.
