EastLink bundles with Ericsson for Mobile Broadband Network

Ericsson has signed a four-year agreement as the sole vendor for EastLink's core and radio access networks, using HSPA+ and next-generation technologies. Ericsson will deploy its multi-standard radio base station; RBS 6000, circuit switched and packet networks including Evolved Packet Core and Operation Support Systems, as well as providing professional services.

Ericsson invested more than 350 million Canadian dollars in Canada in 2010 and ranks as one of the top R&D investors in the country. Approximately 85 per cent of all mobile calls in Canada are served by Ericsson.

"We strive to provide our customers with the best communications and entertainment experience possible. With this network evolution, our customers will be able to work and communicate more reliably and faster than ever before," said Matthew MacLellan, President, EastLink Wireless.

Ericsson is excited to work with EastLink as it enhances its communication capabilities. RBS 6000 is a multi-standard radio base station which supports GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and LTE, providing a cost-effective deployment for next-generation high-speed mobile broadband, video, and web application services while providing subscribers with a superior user experience. "We take great pride in providing telecommunication companies with the best network technology available," said Angel Ruiz, Head of Ericsson North America.
