Sterlite sustains India's Global Competitiveness
Sterlite has received two new contracts from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for manufacture and supply of power conductors. These contracts valued at about Rs.225 crore, are part of a total bank of new orders valued at about Rs.450 crore that Sterlite has received since July 1, 2011.
The First contract is for Sterlite power conductors, that would be used in the 765KV double circuit Champa-Raipur Pooling Station Transmission Line in the Indian State of Chhattisgarh and the second contract is for Sterlite power conductors that would be used in the 400KV Kishnganj-Patna Line. This transmission system is intended to evacuate power from hydroelectric generation projects in Sikkim, to the Northern and Western regions of India.
This project complements the Ministry of Power's focus on green energy, generated from renewable natural resources.
"A nation's infrastructure development is a fundamental facet in its economic growth. A fast growing economy warrants an even faster development of infrastructure. Sterlite would continue its involvement in developing power and telecom infrastructure highways in the country, to sustain India's global competitiveness," said Pravin Agarwal, Wholetime Director, Sterlite Technologies.
