TRAI has regulated all the Operators- SMS service providers to limit 100 sms per SIM per day for all subscribers in its effort to stop the menace of unwanted communication and to avoid spam from 27 September.

On September 5, TRAI had also come out with recommendations to stop pesky calls and text messages from September 27, ordering that no access operator shall permit the transmission of more than 100 SMSes per day per SIM.

According to market buzz, the limit of 100 SMS per day per SIM cannot be over-ruled by any special scheme like Students Scheme, College Scheme, Seasonal Package, Festival Vouchers, etc. Meanwhile, TRAI is to notify Mobile operators in priority of these if there is any blackout or a special occasion.
