Brazil Foxconn plant to produce iPads

According to a recent report by Brazil-based UOL, Aolizio Mercadante, Minister of Science & Technology, Brazil, A Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) plant in Brazil is ready to start producing Apple's iPads with shipments to begin in December.

The plant reportedly is a joint venture between Foxconn and the government of Brazil, with Foxconn contributing a capital of US$12 million. Industry watchers in Taiwan originally expected the plant to kick off commercial operations in the first quarter of 2012.

According to industry buzz, As Apple is expected to launch its new generation iPad in early 2012, the Foxconn plant in Brazil is likely to begin production with iPad 3.
