RIM launches BlackBerry Torch 9860 Smartphone in India

Research In Motion (RIM) has launched the new BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone in India, featuring the new BlackBerry 7 operating system and an all-touch handset design. With a 3.7" display, the new all-touch BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone is optimized for displaying web pages, photos and videos, as well as delivering gaming experiences.

Frenny Bawa, Managing Director, India, Research In Motion, said, "We are very excited to build on the success of the BlackBerry solution in India with the introduction of the new BlackBerry Torch 9860. This powerful new smartphone features many new enhancements, including the next-generation BlackBerry 7 operating system, and we think customers will be particularly thrilled by the faster performance, enhanced browsing and richer multimedia."

The BlackBerry Browser combines the performance of the WebKit browser engine together with the hardware enhancements found in the new BlackBerry Torch 9860 to deliver browsing results. Additional enhancements to the browser have also optimized HTML5 performance.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone also features Liquid Graphics technology, which combines a high-performance graphics processor with a fast CPU and high-resolution display.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
