RI engages NEC to deploy Real-Time Energy Monitoring Solution campus-wide
Raffles Institution (RI) has engaged NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC) to deploy real-time energy monitoring solution throughout its entire campus, as part of its bigger plan to improve energy efficiency and to achieve cost savings.
This initiative is part of RI's continuous efforts towards creating a more environmentally-friendly campus. In August this year, RI was named the first recipient of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark GoldPlus Award, the second highest Green Mark rating under the BCA Green Mark for Existing Schools, which places stronger emphasis on raising the awareness among students and educating our future generation on the importance of environmental sustainability and conservation.
RI is said to be the first school in Singapore to deploy the NEC Starlight Energy Monitoring Solution across its entire campus. This implementation is expected to help RI monitor its energy usage across its entire campus in real-time, and with such data, it allows end-users to take control of and manage their energy consumption. Once this initial stage of energy monitoring, collating and collecting of data is in place, NEC APAC will be able to further provide recommendations, such as retrofitting solutions and energy saving policies necessary to achieve greater energy efficiency and cost savings in line with the BCA Green Mark certifications/requirements for existing schools.
"The deployment of such systems relevant to reducing energy consumption in the Institution shows RI's responsibility and commitment towards a sustainable and green campus. We will continue to embark on such projects that will have a deep and lasting social impact." said Lim Lai Cheng, Principal, Raffles Institution.
NEC's suite of environment and energy technologies and solutions help generate green energy and enable energy efficiency for the society. As a leading IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator in the Asia Pacific region, NEC APAC builds and provides the best-of-breed technologies and solutions for public institutions and private enterprises, by leveraging on NEC's technologies and partners' solutions. NEC APAC is working with its exclusive partner, Anacle Systems, a Singapore-based technology firm to provide the NEC Starlight Energy Monitoring solution on the RI campus.
Kiyofumi Kusaka, CEO, NEC Asia Pacific said, "Worldwide, there is a growing concern and pressure on governments, enterprises and consumers to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. In line with our global vision towards the realization of an information society that is friendly to Humans and the Earth, NEC is pleased to support RI, a leading educational institution that has chosen to adopt our green and eco-friendly technologies, ideas and solutions at its campus as part of its environmental sustainability efforts."
