HP-IPG launches Write&Read: By Us for Us
HP Imaging & Printing Group (HP-IPG) has launched a book Write&Read: By Us for Us - A Collection of Short Stories by Children, for Children written by children selected from the HP Write&Read workshop series for children.
Prolific lyricist Prasoon Joshi and Geeta Dharmarajan, Writer, Founder & Executive Director of Katha, joined Neeraj Sharma, President, Imaging & Printing Group, HP, to launch and celebrate the book with the group of winning children selected to attend the finale in New Delhi.
Neeraj Sharma, President, HP Imaging & Printing Group, said, "The HP Write&Read initiative has been an exciting journey since its inception in July 2011. The launch of the book - Write&Read: By Us For Us - A Collection of Short Stories by Children, for Children is a culmination of the project and its success and relevance in India."
Prasoon Joshi, who mentored children at HP Write&Read workshops, said, "For me, every participant is a winner! Mentoring these children and going through their fascinating ideas made it all worthwhile and a deeply satisfying experience. The HP's Write&Read initiative allowed these children access to a platform of individual and collective expression, helping them to enhance their creative skills and harness their innate ability to think freely. It also gave me the opportunity to share my experiences with them, guide them and took me back to where it all began for me as well. I am honoured to be a part of such a unique and relevant project and must thank HP for inviting me to mentor the children. The shortlist was very tough since all the stories were refreshingly original and creative. I wish the winners as well as all other participants the very best."
Geeta Dharmarajan, Writer, Founder & Executive Director, Katha, said, "Katha has always encouraged children to acquire and develop sustainable learning skills and with HP's Write&Read, we were able to give them a unique platform to come together and develop new age content in the form of creative short stories for their peers. After concluding six successful workshops across India, we are delighted to launch the book - Write&Read: By Us, For Us - A Collection of Short Stories by Children, for Children. The book will be available in various libraries and communities across India and the proceeds from the book will be donated to our schools in the slum communities of Delhi, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh."
