Unwanted SMSes comeback

Pesky SMS senders have joined hands with foreign mobile operators in neighbouring Asian countries and in Africa to send back the message to Indian phone users to beat the telemarketing regulations for spamming mobile phones with unwanted marketing messages.

By this act, the messaging firms have been able to go against the rules implemented by the telecom regulator in September. The SMS is being sent through overseas operators who do not come under TRAI's purview and, therefore, there is no fear of being blacklisted or penalised.

Therefore, unwanted SMSes have made a comeback over the past few weeks after the initial step, when TRAI had notified the new rules.
