BlackBerry offers new Apps, PlayBook price slashed on this New Year for Country

BlackBerry has offered some new applications for smartphones. Users are believed to now decorate their smartphones with attractive themes, animated wallpapers and spread the holiday cheer with their friends and loved ones.

The countdown begins with This Holiday Season - enjoy "Number One!!!" Memory Match Up game for customers phone. This app is said to set the Christmas and New Year tone for customers. Sharing New Year photos on Facebook is expected to automatically enter customers into the contest to score a 3-night get-away at a ME by Melia resort. Photo with the most "likes" by January 15, 2012 wins the Grand Prize. 10 runners-up receive 4AM CDs featuring groove mixologists DJ Ani Quinn and DJ Price.

Furthermore, BlackBerry claims to offer one the chance of being connected through their BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and sending personalized gifts. A BBM Connected App, Gift&Take enables users to send personalized gifts to their BBM contacts and friends. Gift&Take is expected to released with Free and Premium gifts (paid). Users will be able to send free and sponsored gifts, as well as purchase credits for Premium gifts. Gifts are categorized as Single Send gifts and Multi-Send gifts. Multi-Send gifts can be used for sending a birthday party invitation or Ramadan wishes to a group of friends.

The abstract party theme with rainbow lights is said to turn BlackBerry into a dance floor with its colours and feel. The addition of OS 7 icons makes it a must-have theme for your BlackBerry Torch, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Tour and BlackBerry Curve. Customers are also expected to get Animated Merry X'mas and New Year 2012 theme. BlackBerry has also come up with the collection of Bollywood music and Hindi songs which is sure to make you hit the dance floor and tap your feet at every beat.

Research in Motion is also offering 50 p.c. off discounts on its PlayBook tablet in a limited festive season offer until December 31 in India, as per a company spokesman.

In the festive offer, the 16GB version of the PlayBook is available at Rs. 13,490, a more than 50 per cent discount from the regular price of 27,990 rupees. The 32GB model is available at Rs. 15,990 and the 64GB model is for Rs. 24,490, compared with regular prices of Rs. 32,990 and Rs. 37,990, respectively.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
