Co-CEOs of RIM step back

Research In Motion's Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie have resigned as Co-CEOs and Co-Chairmen, handing the top job with four years at the BlackBerry maker.

According to RIM's board, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis are supposed to turn over operational control of RIM to new CEO Thorsten Heins, the company's former Chief Operating Officer.
While Balsillie and Lazaridis are expected to left day-to-day operations altogether, they both still remain on RIMs board and is claimed to be able to exert significant influence through their large ownership stakes.
