Monster Employment Index India increases 3% Year-over-Year

The Monster Employment Index India has announced that its Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is believed to be an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.

Index Highlights for December 2011 are: Annual growth rate at three percent is recorded in December, it is slowest year-over-year growth recorded in 2011. Agro-based industries followed by Real Estate lead all industry sectors in annual growth. Logistic/Courier/Freight/Transportation exhibit maximum decline. Demand for Sales & Business Development and Arts/Creative professionals continues to grow fastest annually. Engineering/ Production, Legal and Marketing register slowest growth on an annual basis. Among the large metro markets, Bangalore continues to record strong growth of 10 percent. Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai continue to weigh down the Index recording negative annual growth in December.

Sanjay Modi, Managing Director (India/ Middle East/ South East Asia), Monster.com said, "Despite a slower pace of growth the Index remained positive from an annual perspective as recruitment activity continued across a broad range of sectors. The current outlook on hiring remains cautious as we approach 2012, which is in line with the prevailing economic scenario."
