Infotech has announced their tie-up with Health Awareness Promotion Project India (HAPPI) to create awareness amongst their associates regarding Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). HAPPI is a voluntary project of the Prevent NCD Foundation consisting of eminent cardiologists, entrepreneurs and fitness management experts. The project came into being after these eminent personalities came across vital statistics according to which young, urban professionals have been proven to be highly vulnerable to NCDs.

B. Ashok Reddy, President–Global Human Resources & Corporate Affairs, Infotech Enterprises, said, "Corporate wellness programmes are the need of the hour, particularly for the IT industry given the prevailing lifestyles and work pressures. Creating awareness on simple lifestyle modifications at the workplace can help us create a healthier group of associates. Hence, we decided to tie up with HAPPI to make our associates aware of the dangers of NCDs."

"The health awareness campaign for the associates of Infotech will comprise formation of a wellness committee in the corporate to run the programme internally, introductory lectures, presentation on NCDs, voluntary risk assessment which will cover employees' blood pressure, height weight (biometrics). They then record this information on a confidential online risk assessment. There are no invasive procedures," said Dr. B Ramesh Babu, Founder, Prevent NCD Foundation and Managing Director, Medwin Hospital.

Infotech has consistently been extending FREE health check-ups to all their associates in their offices. Further, the programme will also include team exercise competitions, workshops on stress management, weight management, smoking cessation, review of cafeteria menus, healthy recipe competitions, weekly health tips via email and intranet, etc.

"All associates will receive health awareness information. Participation in interventions is voluntary. The benefits to Infotech and associates will be increased awareness of threat of NCDs, education about lifestyle change to counter NCDs, and opportunity to participate in activities to assist in changing lifestyle," said Sylvette Wake, Chief Evangelist and Programme Manager, HAPPI.
