SAP enhances Billing Solution

SAP has announced the latest version of the SAP Billing for Telecommunications package. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2012, being held February 27-March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.

The latest release of SAP Billing for Telecommunications provides an extended integration between order capture, product modeling and service pricing design. It also offers end-to end support for pre-paid, post-paid and hybrid billing across the business process chain, while packaged services help reduce the cost and time of implementation. With the new release, SAP further enhances the end-to-end integration of the solution to fast time to value and low total cost of ownership (TCO), while at the same time providing a high degree of flexibility and scalability for multi-sided "Telco 2.0" business models.

"This release of SAP Billing for Telecommunications is another proof point that we offer our customers both operational efficiency and full flexibility to monetize new business models at the same time. The architecture of the solution provides all the benefits of an integrated end-to-end process, while the modular structure and open APIs offer the choice for a phased implementation approach." said Jens Amail, senior vice president, Telecommunications, SAP.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery. The favourable impact of M2M on job creation had already set in as seen by the arrival of the first set of start-ups in the areas such as agriculture, smart cities, healthcare and water management.” She stressed that NTP 2018 would be transformative in harnessing the full benefits of M2M communications.
