Amdocs demonstrates Benchmark Results

At Mobile World Congress 2012, Amdocs has announced results for the communications industry's first benchmark to report the performance of integrated real-time charging and SCP (service control platform) software on open (e.g. non-proprietary), cost-effective, hardware systems. The benchmark demonstrated support for 220 million prepaid and postpaid customers.

The benchmark ran Amdocs' Convergent Charging and SCP products on IBM Blade Center servers and IBM Storwize Unified Storage Systems at the IBM Telecommunications Infrastructure Center for Business Support Systems in Montpellier, France.

"Service providers today understand the importance of integrating network and BSS capabilities to monetize new services and deliver a differentiated customer experience. Amdocs delivers on this through the integration of our SCP and real-time convergent charging engine. This benchmark validates the ability of our integrated approach to support the largest service providers in the world using cost-effective, commercial hardware systems," said Rebecca Prudhomme, VP, product and solutions marketing, Amdocs.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery. The favourable impact of M2M on job creation had already set in as seen by the arrival of the first set of start-ups in the areas such as agriculture, smart cities, healthcare and water management.” She stressed that NTP 2018 would be transformative in harnessing the full benefits of M2M communications.
