IBM tops in Storage & Servers Market
IBM has announced that it has emerged No. 1 in the Indian Storage & Non-x86 UNIX server market in terms of factory revenues for CY2011. IBM's success in the Non-x86 UNIX market segment in India was underpinned by strong uptake for Power7 servers.
IBM was also ranked at # 1 the overall server market in 4Q 2011, with a market share of 32.8% in terms of factory revenues. For CY 2011, IBM captured 29.4% market share in terms of factory revenues. The overall server market in India grew 4.7% year-to-year in terms of factory revenue in 2011.
IBM maintained its market leadership of the overall disk storage (includes Internal and external disk storage) market in 2011 with 28.3% market share, consolidating its lead on a full year basis. IBM's biggest share gain came from the mid-range disk storage segment, which is one of the largest segments within the overall external disk storage market.
"We will build on the momentum by not only understanding our customer requirements better, but also providing them with well-architected, end-to-end storage solutions, especially in the high-end and the mid-range segments.
