Infosys and Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) have marked the first classes of a new 18-week programme to provide Infosys software development training programme to grow Detroit's technology talent pool. A job fair will follow the programme, with Infosys and other prospective employers participating.

"This partnership is an opportunity to build strong career pathways in an important and fast growing sector of Wayne County's economy. We are excited about partnering with a global IT leader such as Infosys and appreciate their generosity in helping provide this training to direct more people into rewarding information technology careers," said Dr. Curtis L. Ivery, Chancellor, WCCCD.

"Infosys sees a great opportunity to provide our world-renowned training to produce skilled software developers in Detroit. Career training to produce more top software developers is something we are delighted to offer to those participating in the programme and to the city of Detroit," said Ashok Vemuri, Member of the Board and Head of Americas, Infosys.

The Software Engineering Boot Camp will use methods developed at the Infosys Global Education Centre to train entry level software engineers. With Detroit as an emerging information technology hub, Infosys selected Wayne County Community College District as its educational partner to launch training in southeast Michigan. In order to sustain this initiative, Infosys will enable and support WCCCD trainers to conduct the next few training programmes for more participants.
