SMEs getting Digitized 
Adding a new feather to its cap, VARIndia, the monthly IT Magazine by Kalinga Digital Media Private Limited has successfully organised the third edition of Eastern India Information Technology Fair (EIITF), in the City of Joy- Kolkata. The event comprised of two sessions- afternoon and evening, wherein it witnessed a lot of discussions and expert opinions on the talk of the town technologies ranging from Cloud, Security, Surveillance and Virtualization.
The Theme of the Afternoon Session was "Challenges in providing affordable solutions to SMEs". This acted as the end-customer networking session with customers across Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, FMCG where they got to meet the various industry leaders, share their market perception and exchange ideas being presented by LG, VMware, Checkpoint, eScan and Enevent.
The evening session kick-started with the auspicious lamp lighting graced by Shri. Prabir Kumar Das, Managing Director, WEBEL, Government of West Bengal;  Shri Susanta Mazumdar, IAS, Special Secretary- IT, Govt. of West Bengal; Shri Manjit Nayak, Addl. Director, STPI-Kolkata, Government of India and B Hari, President, COMPASS. The lamp lighting also witnessed the confluence of important stakeholders of the country like V.K. Bhandari, Chairman- Supertron Electronics Ltd.; S Ravi Shankar, Head Enterprise Sales- Microworld Software Services Pvt. Ltd.; K.L. Lalani, Chairman- Lalani Infotech Ltd.; Pawan Jajodia, Past President-COMPASS; Utpal Das, M.D.- Gazelle Information Technology; Arjun Kumar Dutta, Trade Commissioner, Canadian Trade Office; Ahn, Hospitality business head - Asia & Australia, LG (Korea HQ); Hemendu Sinha, Business Head - B2B, LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd.; Rajeev Keshri, Regional Manager-East, VMware India Pvt. Ltd. and S Ravi Shankar, Head Enterprise Sales, Microworld Software Services Pvt. Ltd.
Shri Susanta Mazumdar, Special Secretary- IT, Govt. of West Bengal during his address rekindled the spark amongst the audience. He gave people confidence about the state and the opportunities which is in store.
Shri. Prabir Kumar Das, Managing Director, WEBEL, Government of West Bengal confirmed WEBEL's support to the IT and ITeS investors in the state.
The event also witnessed Corporate Presentations from LG Electronics, VMware India, Checkpoint, eScan (Microworld Software Services) and Enevent World Wide.
B Hari, President- COMPASS chaired the panel discussion on "Digitizing SMEs in West Bengal". The panelists included Shri. P K Das, MD, WEBEL, Govt of West Bengal; Hemendu Sinha, Business Head - B2B-LG Electronics India; Rajeev Keshri, Regional Manager-East, VMware India; Utpal Das, M.D.- Gazelle Information Technologies and Debabrata Bhadury, Chief Outreach Coordinator (IT), CDAC. In the midst of power packed discussion, the panel agreed that India missed the chance of being an Electronics hub unlike China, Korea and Taiwan. But realizing the loss, the Government and the entrepreneurs have started working towards it. The delegates also exuded confidence that though covered with dark clouds, the Indian IT industry which is a 'Sun Rise' industry is not going to witness any sunset. It can be said without a shadow of doubt that the clouds will soon disappear The EIITF 2012 culminated on a positive note with every attendee having answers to their long bothering business problems. And Kalinga Digital Media hopes to see some more success stories in the next edition of the event.
